It’s no surprise that God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon: Zero Dawn are competing for the prestigious Best Game Direction and Game of the Year awards. Elden Ring, Stray, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and A Plague Tale: Requiem all await them in the competition to be crowned the GOTY.
— The Game Awards (@thegameawards) November 14, 2022 There are a total of ten nominations for God of War: Ragnarok: Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Audio Design, Best Action/Adventure, Best Performance, Best Game, and Innovation in Accessibility. Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Audio Design, and Best RPG were just some of the awards Elden Ring was up for. In comparison to God of War Ragnarok’s ten nods, Elden Ring and Horizon: Forbidden West each received seven. This is one more nomination than the independent success Stray for the PlayStation, which is also competing for Game of the Year along with these big giants. Whereas Xbox was able to get several games home last year, doing so has proven to be quite difficult this time around. The only game produced by Xbox Game Studios Publishing to receive nominations in two different categories is As Dusk Falls.
